creative critical reflection part 1 draft

The conventions I challenged in my "magazine" was the color scheme of the front cover page. Normal magazines aim to catch your eye using bright colors that entrap the consumers therefor enticing them to look at said cover. In my cover photo, I had chosen to use a black and white picture that would stand out in a crowd of competitive magazines. The price to print the cover page would cost much less which saves me money that I can further use for other parts of the magazine. By having black and white, the cover looks more sophisticated and more serious than lets say a teenage aimed magazine about pop stars. By having the cover look more mature and muted, my directed audience of an older demographic (20-55) can appreciate the magazine.

Another convention I challenged was matching the text color with the magazine background color which doesnt happen a lot with other magazines because like stated above, the typical magazines want to catch your eye using multiple colors and multiple fonts. By the font color matching and corresponding with my picture, the whole thing embalms in itself and flows ceaselessly, again, looking more modern and contemporary.

magazine cover breawkdown

The magazine cover I have included in the previous blog post was created by me last night. I had taken the picture of Sarasota because it was a Sarasota edition of a travel magazine called "Transverse". I took the picture using my new phone mentioned in an earlier blog post and I had taken it while SAFELY at a complete stop downtown (in sarasota). The building in the back is one of the most iconic buildings in the downtown area that is located across the street from The Westin which is yet another iconic building in the downtown area and Sarasota. The beef of the magazine is about Siesta Key which is YET ANOTHER iconic location in the nation which has its own TV show on MTV revolving the key. This was a good idea because people are always traveling to beaches and looking for greater and bigger destinations to travel to.

creative critical reflection part 4 draft

The technology I used in my "magazine" was an iphone 8+ for the cover. For previous drafts and workings, I had used an iphone 6s for the pictures. In said previous drafts, I had used the software program "Indesign" to create and manifest a cover, table of contents, and two page article, but for the final cover, I had used an app on my phone called "PicsArt" which I heavily rely on and am used to. The platforms  on both software are extremely different and using the app PicsArt was much more beneficial and time saving compared to Indesign. The drawing tool in PicsArt had enabled me to create the lines under the article names on the cover and had been easier to manage compared to drawing and formatting boxes in Indesign. I only wish that I had done the layout of my magazine on PicsArt due to time constraints that came with Indesign due to it being an alien process.

critical creative reflection part 2 draft

my targeted audience was a demographic of 20-55 year old. By having this age range, young people who are starting to want to travel now that they are getting relatively steady incomes can  now get ideas and tips on travelling, while retired people or people getting ready to retire can also enjoy and splurge on life in different locations around the world that not many people know about (aka Sarasota). the distribution of my magazine will vary throughout grocery stores due to the business of people coming through, and also will be sold throughout perhaps rest stops along the interstate because that's where people go to rest when travelling. I could also have a website revolving my magazine so people who want to see more/cant access the magazine can go online with a simple click and see the relative contents of the magazine issue that season/month. the consumer would benefit from this because its more convenient and I can have ads placed on my website so therefore I can capitalize of...
